Zscaler Appoints William Welch as Global Vice President of Sales

San Jose, California, January, 12, 2015

Zscaler, the Internet security company, today announced that William Welch has joined the company as global vice president of sales and Chief Revenue Officer. A seasoned senior executive with a track record of success at global technology leaders, including HP, Symantec, Oracle and BEA, Welch will be responsible for scaling Zscaler’s sales and channel organizations and accelerating growth worldwide.

“As a proven sales and channels leader with many years of private and public company experience, Bill has an exceptional track record of leading and scaling high-performing sales teams while delivering rapid growth,” said Jay Chaudhry, CEO of Zscaler. “As we look to scale our global business dramatically in 2015 and beyond, Bill’s expertise will be invaluable in the public market. Bill will be a key contributor to hasten the accelerating shift of the $30 billion a year security market away from on-premise point solution security appliances and toward integrated Internet security platforms and Security as a Service with Zscaler.”

Welch has more than 25 years of experience in executive sales roles at leading public technology companies. Prior to joining Zscaler, he was Vice President and GM for HP Software Americas, responsible for more than $2 billion in sales to Global 1000 organizations. Before joining HP, Welch was Vice President of Sales Specialists in the Americas for Symantec, responsible for integrating emerging technologies into Symantec’s product set and scaling the sales effort for high growth. Prior to Symantec, Bill held senior level management positions with Fortune 500 companies, including Oracle Corporation, Sun Microsystems and BEA.

In addition, Welch has worked with the venture capital community including the Carlyle Group and the banking industry (Deutsche Bank) with pre-IPO companies.  Part of his career was also spent internationally working with teams in Europe and Asia in areas such as sales, product development, partner enablement and international account management. Welch earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and political science from LaSalle University.

“With a new major breach announced nearly every week, there is simply no company better positioned to help organizations of all sizes deal with the security and compliance challenges brought upon by the ever increasing global threat landscape.  I’m excited to be part of the most disruptive and innovative team in the security market and look forward to scaling our sales and channel capabilities to further accelerate Zscaler’s already rapid global expansion,” said Welch.

Zscaler’s previously announced year-over-year growth of 93 percent is being driven by two major industry trends—the shift from on-premise hardware appliances and software to Security as a Service, and the transformation from centralized security and point solutions to broad unified security and compliance platforms.
