| Zscaler, the innovator and market leader of Security-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions, is looking for a researcher with email security expertise to join it’s world-class security research team. We are looking for self-motivated individuals with innovative ideas to identify and develop unique approaches for implementing proactive spam and threat detection for our email offering. Threats are more dynamic and complex than ever before and traditional security approaches no longer suffice. We are moving security from the LAN to the cloud but it will take innovative approaches conceived by brilliant minds to get there. |
| Responsibilities: |
| The Senior Security Researcher – Email, will be responsible for identifying and developing prototypes for unique solutions that leverage the Zscaler in-the-cloud model to protect users from emerging email based threats and spam email. You will be tasked with developing unique intellectual property to further improve spam efficacy and security controls. This requires possessing both the technical knowledge to build innovative solutions and the creativity to conceive of them. Responsibilities will also include analyzing emerging threats, filing patents, and conducting forward thinking research initiatives which lead to deliverables such as whitepapers, speaking engagements, and media appearances. |
| Requirements: |
- Required 5+ years of security research experience.
- Proven track record of innovative email security ideas and an ability to implement them.
- Strong understanding of SMTP/POP/IMAP protocols and email security.

| Preferred: |
- Programming skills, preferably in C with comfort in other languages such as C#, Perl, PHP, etc.
- Reverse engineering experience.
- Vulnerability discovery and exploit development skills.
- Experience with network security technologies such as intrusion detection/prevention systems and firewalls.
- Publication of past research and/or speaking engagements.
- Candidate located in Washington DC, Atlanta, or Sunnyvale

| Education Requirements: |
| The candidate will have a bachelor’s or graduate degree from four-year college or university (preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline), or equivalent security industry work experience. |
