Booth Newspapers Selects Zscaler to Manage and Secure Web 2.0
Santa Clare, California, gennaio 14, 2009
Zscaler, Inc., the industry-first, multi-tenant SaaS security service, announced today that Booth Newspapers of Michigan has selected Zscaler to enforce Internet business policy and mitigate risks associated with Web 2.0 threats such as malicious active content, botnets and phishing attacks as well as provide powerful forensic analysis capabilities on Internet usage.
Booth Newspapers is using Zscaler’s SaaS security solution to secure and manage Internet bound traffic for all of its employees across ten locations and eight different brands including Ann Arbor News, Bay City Times, Flint Journal, Grand Rapids Press, Jackson Citizen Patriot, Kalamazoo Gazette, Muskegon Chronicle and Saginaw News.
For Booth Newspapers, Zscaler replaces nine existing proxy servers used for point products such as anti-virus scanning and URL filtering, as well as the associated servers for logging and reporting. With Zscaler, each of ten Internet gateways simply forward the Internet bound traffic to the Zscaler service eliminating the need to maintain multiple products. This service significantly reduces IT support, total cost of ownership as well as increases security and control over Web 2.0 applications.
“We have ten Internet gateways at 8 different locations that require significant local and remote support,” said Ron Klock, Director of Information at Booth Newspapers. “Zscaler has freed us from the operational chores of managing appliances and reduced the time required for Internet access administration. Zscaler’s flexible product options are tailored to exactly meet our needs.”
Similar to Salesforce.com’s platform, Zscaler’s platform is purpose-built to support a multi-tenant SaaS architecture. The policy and log management is centralized, but the execution of policy happens at Zscaler Internet gateways that are deployed around the globe, the only practical way to deliver fast response time.
“Zscaler’s architecture is ideal to enforce policy for multiple locations and road warriors without introducing latency, the problem that plagues traditional SaaS security services that are built upon traditional web proxies,” said Jay Chaudhry CEO of Zscaler. “We are thrilled to provide Booth Newspapers the rich functionality at an attractive TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).”
