Zscaler and Alstom mark a decade of Zero Trust transformation to secure a cloud-first, mobile workforce and modernize operations

Alstom expands its use of the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange™ platform to simplify infrastructure, strengthen protection across users, branches and data protection for AI era work, and accelerate business change initiatives worldwide.

Paris, France, maggio 19, 2026

Zscaler (NASDAQ: ZS), the leader in AI and cloud security, today announced an expanded partnership with Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility. Building on a 10-year relationship, Alstom has evolved from perimeter-based security to a unified Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) approach with Zscaler. This shift has reduced its complex legacy infrastructure and strengthened cyber protections to meet changing business requirements and an AI-driven threat landscape. The mobility provider will continue to expand the use of the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange platform to include additional modules, such as data loss prevention (DLP) GenAI, Zero Trust Branch, Zscaler Cellular, and the use of Business Insights to secure a fast reaction to changed business requirements.

Driving Business Efficiency and Cost Reduction

When Alstom set off on its digitisation journey, the security team faced the challenge of providing frictionless and secure access for its global employees. Its perimeter-focused approach, which was reliant on VPNs, firewalls and VDI, created operational complexity and increased the organisation’s attack surface. By adopting a unified ZTNA approach with the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange, Alstom replaced complex legacy access and advanced its transformation to enable employees to use digital tools from anywhere, while maintaining stable, standardised and secure access to corporate applications.

“At the beginning, our main driver for security transformation was enabling secure access to corporate applications for staff everywhere with a robust and stable Zero Trust platform,” said Yann Barera, Global Head of Network at Alstom. “Over time, we needed more security features to improve our security level for changing business requirements during M&A transactions and divestitures or our growth aspirations with maintenance services while keeping the solution as silent as possible in the background for the business.”

As Alstom’s cloud-first strategy and operational priorities expanded, the organisation extended its use of Zscaler to support broader modernisation, improving visibility and performance across environments while simplifying infrastructure. Initially, Zscaler enabled Alstom to optimise secure internet access by moving from centrally managed hardware to a distributed model aligned to cloud transformation and bandwidth demand.

Visibility into all data streams including AI and Celluar

Alstom is also expanding the platform to better connect and secure distributed operations. Zero Trust Branch provides a simpler, safer and more cost-effective way to connect and secure branches and factories, enabling Zero Trust access from users and IoT/OT devices to applications based on Alstom’s security policies. To strengthen governance and protect sensitive information as usage evolves, Alstom has adopted Zscaler DLP GenAI to help protect intellectual property and maintain appropriate controls and visibility over data streams.

“For AI enhancement, we required additional capabilities of the security platform to control the secure use of AI tools within the organisation,” continued Barera. “Additionally we rely on the monitoring capabilities of Zscaler to continuously improve our network quality. Over the last years, Zscaler has grown to become a strategic partner for us that is accompanying our transformation journey.”

To help maintain a seamless user experience, Alstom’s IT organisation uses Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX) to reduce mean time to resolution when incidents or service degradation occur, supported by real-time insights across the internet and endpoint. The expansion also includes Zscaler Cellular (Z‑SIM) to support Alstom’s evolution toward service-led business priorities, including secure connectivity for remote service delivery particularly in environments where Wi‑Fi is unavailable or inconsistent and thus enabling services teams to connect securely to systems over cellular networks for new operational needs.

With these continued investments, Zscaler has become an integral partner in Alstom’s ongoing transformation and modernisation, aligning security controls with business agility, operational simplification, and the ability to respond quickly as requirements change.
