Optimize SaaS and Workspace Efficiency with New Features in Zscaler Business Insights

Last December, we released Zscaler Business Insights to empower organizations to reduce SaaS application spend and optimize office space real estate. Since then, customers have seen tremendous results. Today, we're thrilled to unveil the latest enhancements to Zscaler Business Insights, designed to provide even deeper visibility and insights you can act on. 

New office occupancy and attendance reporting

Understanding how office spaces are used is critical for optimizing resources and fostering productivity. 

With this release, users can seamlessly upload third-party metadata, including building details and user-level attributes, directly into Business Insights as well as correlate Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) locations and IP addresses to physical office spaces. 

By providing real-time occupancy and usage trends of conference rooms and common spaces in offices, and a breakdown of office attendance and desk usage by department, this feature enables businesses to make data-driven decisions related to office real estate. 

Define and measure custom application usage

Traditional methods of measuring application usage can be cumbersome and inaccurate. When we asked customers how they currently monitor usage of applications and their licensing across their SaaS portfolio, including shadow SaaS, we heard that current mechanisms are inadequate—they are often manual, point-in-time reports that teams across IT and Security have to collaborate on to get a basic grasp of current SaaS posture. This is even harder to track for applications that don’t offer deep API integrations with SaaS management tools.

That's why we're introducing Custom Applications: a feature that empowers users to define and specify custom URLs for applications they want to measure, eliminating noise, and providing more accurate insights. With the ability to define up to 32 custom signatures per tenant and identify usage even without telemetry, businesses can gain a deeper understanding of application adoption and usage patterns. 

Reclaim unused licenses and reduce SaaS costs

Identifying underutilized SaaS applications and licenses is just the first step toward cost optimization. With Zscaler Workflow Automation Integration, users can now take remedial action directly from the Business Insights dashboard.

By automating license reclaim workflows and flagging inactive user licenses, organizations can streamline operations and reduce SaaS operational costs. Users will be able to automate reclaim flow for unused licenses (including messaging end users confirming deprovisioning) and iterate with ticketing systems for tracking and execution. From initiating workflows to tracking their execution, Workflow Automation Integration puts the power to drive outcomes right at your fingertips.

Generate board-level reports in a click

Fully comprehend your technology and office space utilization without relying on costly third-party consulting efforts. Using our custom LLM and generative AI, you can now generate a comprehensive summary of your organization's SaaS adoption and office usage posture, right from within the Zscaler dashboard. From analyzing your SaaS portfolio to identifying areas for cost savings and optimizing office usage, these reports offer invaluable insights to drive strategic decisions and help answer questions like:
