2025 ZDX Recap: Elevating IT Operations with Customer-Driven Innovations
As we ring in 2026, it’s a great moment to reflect on the significant advancements Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX) has delivered throughout 2025. While ZDX made headlines with major, groundbreaking capabilities that redefined device, network, and application monitoring and troubleshooting - read the launch recap blog and the new innovations blog to learn more - ZDX also had a continuous stream of impactful innovations.
These customer-driven advancements demonstrate ZDX's commitment to ongoing product velocity, delivering enhancements that streamline workflows, sharpen insights, and empower IT teams to deliver an even more seamless digital experience for users. They are not just features; they are strategic innovations built to solve real-world challenges.
Let’s take a moment to shine a light on some of these ZDX innovations from 2025.
Enhanced Visibility: See the Full Path, Prove the Performance
In 2025, ZDX dramatically expanded its capabilities to provide more granular, actionable visibility across the digital landscape. These enhancements are critical for rapid root cause analysis and precise understanding of performance bottlenecks.
Managed Monitoring Companion Probe, and Data Explorer Views
This year brought a significant innovation with Managed Monitoring through the Companion Probe, dramatically extending your network visibility and troubleshooting capabilities.
What's New:
The Managed Monitoring Companion Probe functionality, paired with Data Explorer views, significantly extended network visibility. This enhancement introduces a cloud-deployed, outbound-only probe for actively monitoring connectivity and performance to any target application on any port, using TCP and ICMP.
Crucially, the companion probe runs its cloud path monitoring against the exact same DNS-resolved IP address as the Zscaler Web Probe. This ensures that both the web probe (for application performance) and the cloud path probe (for network performance) target the same destination, providing a highly correlated and comprehensive view.
This empowers NetOps to:
- Gain unparalleled insight into the exact network path to an application, including public internet segments and third-party ISPs.
- Compare application performance from multiple Zscaler locations to pinpoint congestion or degradation.
- Deliver concrete evidence to determine if a bottleneck is on the corporate network, public internet, or a cloud provider.
- Drastically reduce Mean Time To Innocence (MTTI).

Wi-Fi Dashboard Enhancements
User complaints about "bad Wi-Fi" are common, whether in the office or working remotely. ZDX’s Wi-Fi capabilities received significant enhancements to address this.
What's New: The Wi-Fi Dashboard now includes advanced capabilities such as the Wi-Fi Performance by Locations List View. This enhanced view provides a comprehensive list of access points and their connected devices, alongside their ZDX Score.
These Wi-Fi dashboard enhancements empower NetOps and Service Desk to:
- Quickly diagnose user-reported slowness related to local Wi-Fi conditions by filtering and sorting by best and worst performing locations.
- Identify if the issue is local to the user's Wi-Fi environment using granular metrics
- Provide faster, more accurate guidance to users, preventing unnecessary corporate network troubleshooting.

Proactively Solve Issues Before They Escalate
Reducing MTTR and catching issues before they impact productivity is paramount for both NetOps and Service Desk. ZDX's 2025 advancements deliver on this promise with smarter diagnostics and comprehensive alerting.
UCaaS Application Support for User-Level Analysis
Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) applications like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Webex are critical for modern organizations, making performance issues particularly disruptive. ZDX now provides deeper, more actionable insights into these critical communication tools.
What's New:
ZDX introduced AI/ML-driven, user-level UCaaS analysis for individual meeting sessions. This provides detailed meeting metrics like ZDX Score for the call, audio quality, audio latency, audio jitter, and audio packet loss, as well as video latency and jitter. ZDX now identifies specific contributing factors impacting a meeting's ZDX Score, such as "High Local Network Latency" or "Device Resource Exhaustion", with a clear confidence level.
This intelligent root cause analysis empowers NetOps and Service Desk to:
- Pinpoints the exact source of poor meeting quality for specific users and individual meetings, whether it's device issues, network latency, application
- Gain clear, data-backed insights into the user's experience for rapid resolution.
- Significantly reduce user frustration during critical communications.

Enhanced Proactive Alerting (Custom Apps, Call Quality, Any Incident Type)
Waiting for a user complaint is reactive. ZDX's expanded alerting capabilities enable early intervention, tackling issues before they escalate into user complaints.
What's New:
- Expanded Alert Rule Support for Custom Applications: Configure alerts for critical custom applications based on network metrics like packet loss, number of hops, and packet count, extending alerting beyond just predefined SaaS apps.
- New Alert Support for UCaaS Call Quality Metrics: Immediate notifications when voice or video call quality dips below acceptable thresholds for any user or group
- Enhanced Alert Support for Any Incident Type: Configure alerts for virtually any performance anomaly ZDX detects, including specific incident types like Last Mile ISP blackouts, brownouts, or device resource issues.
These proactive notifications, deliverable via email, webhooks, or ServiceNow integrations, give your Service Desk and NetOps teams a crucial head start:
- Empowering them to address performance degradations or outages before users are broadly impacted.
- Preventing widespread disruption and maintaining productivity across the organization.
Device Incident Type for Windows
Often, what appears to be a "network problem" is actually a device problem. ZDX introduced an innovation to help accurately differentiate and diagnose these issues.
What's New:
A new incident type for Windows devices proactively identifies device health issues impacting user experience, such as high CPU utilization, memory exhaustion, or application crashes. ZDX provides detailed incident reports that include impacted users by geolocation and historical trends.
This proactive detection helps Service Desk:
- Quickly determine if user slowness or poor experience is device-related.
- Provide clear evidence and metrics for software crashes or resource exhaustion.
- Pinpoint and troubleshoot directly to the source, preventing misdiagnosis and avoiding unwarranted blame on the network.

Looking Forward with ZDX
The ZDX enhancements of 2025 are more than just new features; they are strategic tools designed to empower you. They provide deep, end-to-end visibility NetOps needs to prove network performance and pinpoint true bottlenecks, and equip Service Desk with the diagnostic muscle for faster, data-backed issue resolution. From granular network path visibility to AI/ML-driven UCaaS analysis and proactive device health monitoring, ZDX empowers you to move beyond reactive troubleshooting.
