Enabling Possibility for People

The Zscaler difference comes from a global team that is technically skilled, forward thinking, and aligned to our mission.

We prioritize investments in people by offering training and development opportunities for employees at every level. We emphasize employee safety, well-being, diversity, inclusion, and recognition. We strive to create a positive, inspiring workplace built on strong values. We’re also passionate about giving back to our communities and causes that are meaningful to our team members.

A destination for top cybersecurity talent

As a mission-driven company revolutionizing the world’s approach to security, we have based our talent-attraction strategy on building and recruiting from diverse talent pipelines, creating opportunities for our people to succeed alongside Zscaler.

Our internal surveys and external recognition show high employee engagement and connection within our workforce:

  • 88% of surveyed employees are highly engaged
  • 92% of surveyed employees are aligned with our strategic mission
  • 89% of surveyed employees said their managers are effective at building great teams, driving results, demonstrating ownership, and role-modeling the Zscaler values
  • 92% of employees agree that Zscaler is a Great Place To Work (Certified in 2023)

Talent development to build high-performing teams

We give employees opportunities and resources to build their careers and advance within our company.

Our Succeeding at Z toolkit offers a suite of training and development programs that support the needs of our business and meet people where they are in their career journey. We offer structured, live, and curated training content to help employees succeed in their roles, and eligible employees may receive tuition reimbursement to invest in future career growth. Our mentorship program connects hundreds of Zscaler employees to mentors and mentees who work together to explore what’s possible.

Our Leading at Z program develops leaders, who help set the tone for our company culture by modeling Zscaler values and cultivating a positive employee experience. We offer tailored development programs that meet leaders at different phases of their journey. All managers have access to tools, resources, and timely live programming. Leaders identified as top talent have expanded access to personal development, including executive coaching and advanced education.

Advancing company priorities through performance management

Our company-wide employee performance management program—Goals, Performance, and Success (GPS)—formalizes our goal-setting, manager check-in, and performance assessment processes. The program includes biannual reviews that cover both what was achieved and how it was delivered, which is aimed at aligning performance to our Zscaler values. GPS is designed to give employees at all levels clarity on what is expected of them, opportunities for growth and development, and the feedback and autonomy to excel in their roles. GPS aligns employee contributions with company priorities, and links rewards with impact.

Engaging employees through an open culture

Part of what drives our high levels of employee engagement is our open culture. We solicit feedback through both informal processes, such as our open-door policy, and formal processes, such as our annual engagement survey and periodic pulse surveys that gauge employee sentiment.

These surveys give us a broad view of the employee experience, keep our leaders informed of areas for improvement, and help us understand nuances across different demographics and geographies. We are proud to have an engaged and motivated workforce that exceeds the survey benchmark for companies in our industry, and we are determined to remain humble and open to constructive feedback and new ideas.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion

Security means more than protection from threats. It means creating a culture of belonging and inclusion where everyone feels empowered to use their voice, collaborate, and try new things.

We’re a truly international company, with employees in 28 countries serving more than 7,700 customers, including 30% of the Global 2000. Our investments in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) support our people and help our business succeed. When our global teams are representative of the customers and communities we serve, we’re better able to anticipate customer needs, empathize with their experiences, and create solutions to complex and evolving cybersecurity threats.

Our DEI approach is guided by the following objectives:

Best talent
Attract the best representative cybersecurity talent

Expand our employment marketing reach; ensure representative candidate slates; and build marketing, selection, and decision processes without bias.

Build inclusion awareness and engagement

Educate leaders and employees on inclusion and bias, support and enable a community of employee resource groups, and celebrate our differences.

Develop underrepresented talent

Advocate for historically underrepresented populations; enable career development; and achieve equitable processes in rewards, opportunity, and advancement.

diverse people
Support the success of a diverse team

Assess and improve the experience of underrepresented populations, and design programs and initiatives that support a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

As our employee base grows, we’re continuing to invest in the programs that foster inclusion and belonging. This includes courses on diversity awareness, managing bias, and training for leaders on the role of diversity in building high-performing teams.

Pay equity

Zscaler believes employee compensation should be determined by impact delivered.

Zscaler publishes reports containing pay equity indicators. Please find our French gender pay index report here and our UK pay gap report here.

Community impact and giving back

We engage employees by connecting people with opportunities to do meaningful work in service of the communities they care about. We invest in the community by providing volunteer opportunities for our employees and giving back to the local communities where we operate.

Looking ahead, we are developing a community-impact strategy that builds on Zscaler’s legacy of giving back and continues to make a positive difference in the communities in which we operate. This includes scaling a global Community Leaders program to support passionate employees’ volunteer efforts.

Accessibility and Digital Inclusion

We prioritize inclusion and accessibility for all, and we're proud to have an inclusive website. Zscaler is fully compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA for ADA and accessibility compliance.

For US federal agencies, we also publish self-assessments of Zscaler products using Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) to support Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, which ensures accessibility and usability for people with disabilities.
